The Father Heart of God

"I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. "
(Luke 15:18-24 ESV)

We have a loving Father in Heaven. Thanks be to God for His Father heart!!!

The last thing the enemy wants us to do is to turn from our sin to God. The enemy wants to keep us in bondage, where we find temporary fulfillment, in which it's never enough and we need more and more to feel a percent of satisfaction. The Lord, our Father in Heaven, desires us to turn from sin, return to Him that we may experience true fulfillment....true life, true restoration. In the arms of Father God is the safest place.Sin lies to us, God loves us. I want to encourage anyone out there who is dealing with a sin and struggling to give it up to God, to give it to Him, turn from it, repent and run to Jesus. Just as the son in this parable from the Bible did. Look how the Father heart of God receives those who understand their desperate need for Him! He is loving, immeasurably loving!!!!!! The enemy, the devil wants to keep us in bondage...God wants to care for us and tenderly love and heal us. He can't do it when we choose sin over His loving arms.

Turning away from sin and into my Father's tender Arms,
Lindsey

"Do Not Be Deceived...

God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. "
                                                                -Galations 6: 7-8

In our lives, we sow into many things... in different ways.

The number one thing we sow into is our thoughts.

The thoughts we allow in our minds and dwell on are a form of sowing. If we are not intentionally dwelling on things that are......true, lovely, honorable, just, pure, commendable, excellent or praiseworthy.... (phil. 4:8), We are by default (because we were born into a sinful, deceptive world, with sin still fighting for reign in our lives) sowing into our flesh that thinks upon things that fill us with ....strife, anger, jealousy, idolatry, division.... (Gal 5:20). So, the first place we can sow to the Spirit is by obeying the Bible and the Holy Spirit's promptings to think upon heavenly things, upon Phil. 4:8 things, and pray without ceasing.

The second place we sow into is our time

What do we do with our time? Our free time? This is an area that the Lord has been trying to help me for many years now. To be truthful, I spend most of my time sowing into Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, instead of sowing into God's Word, prayer, or other Spirit-filled things. Now, I don't believe all these social networking things in themselves are sin (it can be used as a great place for encouragement and prayer), but when chosen over what God is calling us to do, yes they are. Then it becomes an idol, which the Lord hates. For me, I struggle with sowing more into social networking than my relationship with God; for you, it could be TV shows, sports, family, shopping, building a business, making money, a particular relationship, and even "ministry"! The most important thing we need to sow into is our Spiritual relationship with God. Now, I am aware that we have to live our lives, of course, but the time God gives us, no matter if we are working or it's free time, it all should be offered to God, because it's His in the first place. It should be used do to with as He pleases. Dear brothers and sisters, please pray for me. That I would sow into my relationship with the Lord every second of the day! Thank you!

"I appeal to you therefore, by the  mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice to God, which it your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind..." - Romans 12:1

The third place we sow into is our finances/money
I've heard many quotes that talk about money. Jesus warns more about money in the Bible than anything else. Where our treasure is, there our hearts will be also. Where do we invest our money? Where does our money go? To bless others and God's kingdom? Or to build our own little kingdom? Tough stuff, but this another place where we can choose to sow into the Kingdom of God or our little kingdom.

" Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but LAY up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also."- Matthew 6:19

I write this today because I came to the Lord in prayer, wondering why I didn't feel the sweetness of His presence, or desire to spend a lot of time in His word, and I heard that simple verse.. "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."
I have been reaping corruption because I've been sowing into my flesh in my thoughts and time specifically. I'm so grateful for God's Word that guides us, that helps us understand how to get back on our feet. May this post encourage anyone else who struggles with sowing into their flesh, rather than the Spirit. I am so thankful for The Holy Spirit's guidance... He is so sweet to guide us, all we have to do is call upon His name!

For Christ's glory,

To Know and Fear the Lord...

I get in ruts. Ruts of self-willed action. Ruts of trying to find hope and strength in anything else but Jesus. I see what Paul talks about in Romans; I have the desire to do what's right and please the Lord, while sin is lurking right behind. There's been a lot on my mind lately, especially as I ponder a quote my pastor told our congregation last Sunday. Here it is:

"You will never be as close to God or as spiritual as you wish to be...
You will never be as close to God or as spiritual as you desire to be...
You will ONLY be as close to God and as spiritual as YOU CHOOSE to be."

After a long week of waking up late and neglecting my time with the Lord in the morning, I felt the strong need and desire to get back in the Word and spend time with God today. I decided to CHOOSE my Heavenly Father, my great Savior....my dear Lord. Choosing Him never fails me. Choosing Him is choosing my highest good,  my greatest joy, the richest, most fulfilling life. Jesus is Joy. Jesus is life.

The Choice is ours though.

God's Spirit (by His amazing Grace) prompts and draws us....

We choose our reaction...

Just desiring to be closer to God isn't going to get us closer.

                                                                                               We must choose.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.....Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. (James 4:8-10)

My prayer is that I would be a person that Knows and Fears
   the Lord of Heaven's Armies.

For that is the WHOLE purpose of our life, as said in Ecclesiastes...

The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil
(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

All of this to say, The more we know God and the more we fear Him, the more we will choose Him!
... and we will only know Him better and Fear Him properly by spending time with Him and His Word, praying without ceasing, and choosing Him over our fleshly pursuits. Who's with me? Lord, thank You for the gift of YOU. Thank you that you are everything our hearts desire. Make us more like you, Open our eyes to Your glory and Goodness, we love you Lord. What can we bring? We are nothing apart from you!  We need you Lord, In Jesus Christ's Holy name we pray, Amen.

Salvation is in No Other Name!

Ever since I've come across this picture, my heart has been SO grateful!  Sometimes I forget the penalty for the sin in my life; or the real seriousness of sin itself. This picture helps remind me of the SERIOUSNESS of sin and the LOVE of Christ to BEAR it ALL that I may receive salvation! If it weren't for the Spirit of God in my heart reminding me of my sin, I know I would forget about sin altogether.

The picture speaks 1,00000000000000-------00000 words, it's like a "WORDLESS sermon". Especially words of God's love, and what He did to make a way when there was NO way!

Hallelujah! Jesus Christ took our place. He bore the wrath meant for us because of our sin.... So that we may receive salvation through Him... I'm forever grateful....

"The Glory of the gospel is this: The one from whom we need to be saved is the one who has saved us.... DIVINE LOVE TRIUMPHED OVER DIVINE WRATH by DIVINE Self-Sacrifice." - R.C. Sproul.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

Liebster Award!

My sweet Sister Brittany nominated me for this award - Thanks Britt!

Facts of the Liebster Award:
The Liebster Award’s origins are pretty much a mystery. Bloggers nominate other bloggers that have 200 or less followers. It’s basically a “Hey, that’s a sweet little blog you’ve got there. Here’s an award!” You can’t just accept the award. You have to play by the (ever changing) rules and pay it forward. Then you can put the award on your blog for all to see.
The Rules:
1. List 11 facts about yourself. (I hope that you enjoy them! I tried to write things that hopefully my readers may not know, but then things that new people stopping in may find interesting as well.)

2. Answer the 11 questions given to you. (My 11 questions for each of the 11 nominated blogs are near the bottom of this post!)

3. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award.
4. Choose 11 bloggers with 200 or less followers to nominate. (At the very bottom of this post you will find the links!)
5. Go to each bloggers page and let them know about the award.
6. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog. (see the intro of this post!)

Birthday Thankfulness!!!

It's 6:19 am and I need to get ready for school, but I wanted to share something God revealed to me in a deeper way today! As I think about Birthdays and how much they are celebrated, I'm reminded THE most important thing to celebrate is my rebirth in Christ my Lord and Savior!!

What am I thankful for today?

What am I celebrating!?!?

the Forgiveness of SINS!!!

Let all that I am praise the Lord!
With my WHOLE heart, I will praise His Holy Name!
Let all that I am praise the Lord!
May I never forget the GOOD things he does for me...
HE FORGIVES ALL MY SINS
AND HEALS ALL MY DISEASES
HE REDEEMS MY LIFE FROM DEATH
and crowns me with love and tender mercies!
Psalm 103:1-5

Here you will find a missionary telling the gospel to people in another country. Watch this tribe's reaction at the end to salvation: the forgiveness of sins and a right relationship with God!

This is SOMETHING to rejoice about every moment of every day! I'm so thankful the Lord reminded me of this this morning! Be blessed Christians, we are SAVED- we are rescued!!!! Praise be to God! And to those who may not be saved, Christ died for you! Christ rose from the grave and conquered sin for you so that you may have a relationship with God!  Repent and Trust Him as your Lord and Savior- His yoke is easy and His burden is Light!!

GRATEFUL & REJOICING,
Lindsey

Marriage As My first Ministry: Following God's Divine Order

It's so easy as wives to forget that our biggest ministry is our husbands!

I've gathered this information from a wonderful Biblical Submission Study of Proverbs 31 mysecondlove.net

  Following God's Divine Order:
A wife's Biblical submission is vital to the family unit and a wife's effectiveness in her role as help-meet to her husband, therefore we will follow God's divine order of things (1 Corinthians 14:40):
Living life out of God's order is asking for chaos to reign in our lives, causing us to be unfruitful and living in constant haste (2 Peter 1:3-9).

This Information has really kept my heart in the right place when it comes to arranging my day, knowing that these priorities are important to God! And God blesses THIS order of things! It's really quite simple, yet we try and make it more complicated by feeling like outside ministry is more important than our home life(which is Satan's GREAT deception and why families are so messed up lately!) ! Look up these scriptures and be blessed! The Lord is currently teaching me about this and am SO excited to share this with other woman who are searching for how to please God in their daily walk & life! Notice: OUTSIDE Ministry is fifth. We gotta put first things first if we want to see God's blessing in our lives.

Be blessed,
Lindsey

Gift of the Red Bird

Many of you that know me, know that I am totally intrigued and blessed by red birds (some may know them as cardinals :))! I've had different responses from close friends and family members that know of my joyful feeling towards these beautiful birds; some think it's so sweet & see the significance, while others just think it's plain DORKY.

I believe God speaks to me through red birds.

Want to know why?

I will tell you :)

One day about 5 years ago, right after I truly gave my life to the Lord, I was sitting depressed in my apartment bedroom. I was looking out my window, wondering why I felt so lost when I had just made the biggest decision of my life- Giving my life to Jesus! I felt alone because I let go a lot of  friends that were not wanting to go on the same path as me. I felt sad because I didn't know how to walk with God and I was scared of what it all would look like.

I remember saying sincerely..."God, there is no purpose for me..." I quickly look up out the window and saw this BEAUTIFUL bright red bird sitting on the branch right outside the glass. My eyes lit up. I felt God saying to me "I have a purpose for you, you are loved and I will take care of you!" I suddenly felt the depression lift off me, I felt full of JOY and was completely confident that God was with me and He had a purpose for the pain and loneliness!

Up to this day, God has used red birds to remind of His love for me. As most you that walk with the Lord know, walking with the Lord is not easy... it's full of trials, testing and sanctification. There have been hundreds of moments where I felt like I couldn't go on and God in His loving-kindness would always send a red bird my way to help me remember His promise!

You see, God gives us eyes to see. He speaks through ALL His creation. If you allow God to speak to you, you will hear Him & see Him in ways you wouldn't have imagined!!!!

My dear friend Lindsay Marsh bought me this book called "The Gift of the Red Bird" The Story of Divine Encounter by Paula D'Arcy.

To my sweet surprise, God has used Red birds in her life as well... She says in her book...
"I am lonely and I feel depressed...As I write a brilliant red bird flies by and takes my breath away...." pg. 96
Weaved throughout her story, is this red bird that reminds her of God's awesome goodness and love, just as God does for me. I am so in awe of this!!!! God is so KIND to send me this book to reassure me that it IS Him!!! He's not only using red birds in my life, but in the lives of others!!

Here are some pictures throughout the years of my red bird encounters...
Me and the red birds artwork display on Market Street... <3 nbsp="nbsp">
Mr. Red bird visiting me at breakfast...

Mr. Red Bird following me out of town on a winter cold day...
Mr. Red bird singing outside my window as I spend time with the Lord....
I lived with my parents for 6 months and my mom always knew I was reading my Bible when she heard the red birds in the front yard. My window faced the front yard! They would chirp and hang out outside my window during my quiet times in the morning... so sweet!
Mr. Red Bird greeting me as I walk to my car!
Mr. Red Bird hanging out in the tree right above Kalen and I on our date night! This was special.

Here are the centerpieces at Kalen and I's wedding! Only God knew that I would never be the same after He spoke to me that day in my room through the bright & beautiful red bird!

I want to encourage you to keep your eyes peeled and heart open to how God wants to speak to you each and every day... don't take anything for granted! He can speak through a rock, a burning bush... a person, a red bird, a yellow butterfly, a smile...anything and everything because everything belongs to Him! Thanks be to God!

Grateful and reassured that God does speak, He is real, and He is full of LOVE and compassion!!!

Yellow Butterflies

It was a gorgeous day in September of 2009, Kalen and I  had our first "hang-out/date". We drove around Montgomery, not really knowing what to do, but just wanting to be with each other.

On one back road we found thousands upon thousands of yellow butterflies wisping in and out of the trees and in front of the car. I remember feeling really giddy inside, like it was a magical moment with Kalen and yet another sign of God's sweet beauty around us. We were both amazed on the amount of butterflies around us- we'd never seen so many before!

To this day, every time I see a yellow butterfly, I think of that day and smile. I remember praying the day after I met Kalen for signs from God that he was "the one" for me. God was so faithful to do that. Some may think it's silly that I viewed the butterflies as a sign, but I did. It was the beginning of a BEAUTIFUL journey for Kalen and I.

It's that season again, and the yellow butterflies are out and about. Today I saw about 15 driving around to different places, they seem to say to me "be cheerful". I am so thankful for God's kindness towards me. Whether it be viewing beautiful butterflies or giving me the BEST husband that I could ever ask for, think or imagine... It's ALL God's unmerited kindness. Every flower that blooms, every bird that sings, every butterfly that wisps through the air... everything is filled with God's glory and goodness!

Today I am thankful for yellow butterflies.
I am thankful for my husband.

Truth!

We must examine the Word of God and examine our hearts. A lot of false "self-promoting" teaching is being preached in "Christian" churches today. We must forsake those teachings and stick to the Word of God which calls us to deny ourselves and follow Jesus.

Lord, let us not be tossed and turned by teachings that tickle our ears and make us feel good about ourselves. Help us understand how depraved and wretched we are apart from you and how much we desperately need you hour by hour, minute by minute. Your word is a lamp unto our feet.....all our good works are filthy rags, we are undone, men and women of unclean lips... give us a brokenness, and desire for more of you and less of us! In Jesus name, Amen.

Meet my friend, Landen!

Most of you know that I've been weekly nannying a 13 year old boy named Landen Wilson. He is a sweet and fun blessing in my life from the Lord. He was born with a disability called fragile X. learn more about the disability here.

I began nannying Landen at the end of the spring semester. At first I was nervous because I had never taken care of a "special needs" child, but I felt as if the Lord was preparing my heart because the first time I took care of him I began falling in love with him!

Landen is 13 but has the brain capacity of a 6 year old. He repeats himself a lot and gets really anxious about certain things. When he is told no or is surprised by a situation that he isn't aware of, he has the tendency to  get very upset which is typical of a Fragile X child. I got the privilege to take care of Landen for 2 whole weeks throughout the summer while his parents were out enjoying themselves on vacation. I was so happy to be able to have been there so his sweet parents could take a well needed break!

In the span of those two weeks, I saw ups and downs of Landen's disability. The downs were really scary, but Kalen was there to encourage me to not be fearful, because of course, fear is not from the Lord but from the enemy! I saw God move in MIRACULOUS ways as I struggled with how to deal with Landen's outbursts. The awesome thing is that I learned in a stronger way how to depend on God for what seemed to be the impossible.  God was and is continually so kind to give me wisdom beyond my understanding for every situation!

The ups are what keep me falling more in love with Landen each day. When he is happy, he is the most fun kid to be around! He is so affectionate and will overwhelm me with joy in small ways. He likes to give hugs and kisses on the cheek..... and when I'm leaving, he will bring me my bags, open the door for me and say "Thanks for stopping by!" He will walk me out to my car and open the door for me! He even calls me his "Best friend" and tells me 'Happy Birthday" everyday!!! He is the sweetest 13 year old boy I know.

I am grateful for this boy. I am thankful to Jesus for allowing me the privilege to serve the Wilson family and be apart of this sweet boys life.

Here are some pictures of us at Chick-fil-A!
Such a sweetie!!!!!!!!!

Landen's beautiful mom, Jessica Wilson, Landen and me!
It's hard to keep him still to look at the camera so I'm extremely happy!

The reality is, all children have "special needs" because God has made everybody different. We have different needs and struggles, and we're all sinners in need of a Savior. So, what's so "different" about Landen? He is created in the image of God, with a disability that I don't have, but yet he is still able to love and communicate in ways that most people can't! I call Landen a blessing..... for he has encouraged me to depend on God in ways I wouldn't have thought and helped me to be thankful for small things & victories! Boy do I love this boy!

Thankful,
Lindsey

Clean Hands; a Pure Heart

"Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in His Holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart." - Psalm 24:3-4
God has rigid requirements for those who want to enjoy intimate fellowship with Him. There is no easy access to God for those with unclean hands or an impure heart. It is an affront to holy God to assume that we can indulge in our sin and blatantly disobey His word, then brazenly enter the holy of holies. In Old Testament times, one's hands represented one's activities. Clean hands symbolized pure activities. Priests washed their hands before serving in the temple to symbolize that only those who were cleansed could worship holy God.
There are levels of intimacy with God. The moment you become a Christian you begin a relationship with the Lord. However, if you persist in your sin, sin will separate you from God and keep you from enjoying close fellowship with Him. If you follow only God's basic commandments but resist every time God gives you specific, personal directions,  you will never truly experience the depths of God's Person. If, however, you are like the psalmist and understand the holiness of God, you will adjust your life to HIS standards and respond to His prompting so that you may have deeper fellowship with Him.
The closer you get to holy God, the MORE obvious even your smallest sins become. The more you know of God's character, the more you will realize the need to wash your hands and purify your heart before you can get close to Him.
Are you willing for the Almighty God to make you ABSOLUTELY pure before Him so that you can enjoy the MAXIMUM possible relationship with Him?

-Experiencing God day by day
by: Henry T. Blackaby

We must examine ourselves before a Holy God. No one can stand without Jesus, but what are our activities? Do we have clean hands? Are we obeying even the smallest commands of our Lord? Search us Oh God... see if there be any grievous way within us... and lead us in the way everlasting.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Finally :o)

Many of you know that I have been being mentored by a sweet, wonderful, Christ-honoring woman named Sunny Shell. She fears and honors the Lord more than anyone I have ever met. We met through my search to be a Biblically submissive wife. About a year ago I began praying that the Lord would bring me someone that could REALLY help me become the wife I was called to be. I had a lot of women in my life that were Christians but were busy and weren't able to help thoroughly mentor me. A few days later, I searched in google "first love Jesus, second love husband", and came across this website called mysecondlove.net. I clicked the link and from then on Sunny has been mentoring me. Sunny is the author and founder of mysecondlove.net which is a biblical submission study through Proverbs 31. I have learned so much through the study and am only on section 8 of the study!

I believe the most important part of the study is that Sunny interacts with me via phone and video. Before I took the study, I had to email her and talk to her over the phone. We began talking on the phone weekly because I had SO many questions about faith, life, and Jesus! She also had a lot of correction to give as to my beliefs. It's amazing how much I thought I knew.... and I thought was right...... that didn't line up with God's word. She's the only woman that I've ever known to walk me through the darkest hours with such wisdom, grace and reproof. I am honored to tell you wonderful things about her because she is worth it. She has given her life completely to Jesus and the fruit of that has extermely blessed my life.

A lot of women aren't willing to go all the way- to forsake all (wants, desires, hopes, and aspirations) for the cause of Jesus (they say it with their lips, but their life doesn't look like Jesus at all!!)- but she is and her life does. And I'm thankful for her guidance in my life! Thank you Jesus! She's a lover of the truth!

Well, last week, we got to see each other!!! Yippeeee!!! It was such a sweet blessing to finally meet her face to face after a year of mentorship!!!!

She's so much fun!!

my spiritual mother! I love you Sunny!!!

Chick-fil-a's" Dress Up Like A Cow" Day!

Chick-fil-a is one of my favorite places to eat, so when I found out that Chick-fil-a was having "Dress up like a cow and get a free meal" day I was totally in! Thankfully my pastor's wife, Diane, was already getting her  kids prepared for it too! This is what the women (some ;-) ) from RiversEnd Community Church do in our free time (lol!). I was also very thankful to have my sweet sister in Christ, Donatta (AKA Tornado) in town as well. Tornado is a free spirit and she loved doing this with me!!! Thankful for the simple things! I had a blast and got a free meal!!

Enjoy the pictures!

Tornado, Linda, and me- this was pretty hilarious! The ladies from our church family were the only adults that dressed up ;)

All of us!

The Powell's and Linda dancing with the Chick-fil-a Crew!!

Christlikeness

Above you see 2 pairs of Chacos. One pair is mine and the other pair are Kalens. If you would have asked me 3 years ago to put these Chacos on I would have politely said, "NO WAY!"

... Here I am 3 years later wearing these. It's interesting how when you begin to love and trust someone, you start turning into that person! Kalen and I have been married almost a year and a half. As the time has passed and our relationship has gotten stronger and more intimate, I've begun to like the things he likes-- Like Chaco's, and many more things!

This, in essence, is what happens in our relationship with Christ. As we grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, we start to think like Him and supernaturally become like Him! That's why the Word of God says,

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Romans 12:2

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 1:2

This is why WE must make time for God and His Word everyday! We must continually meditate on God's Word or we will conform not into our Savior, but to our media and our world... which is NOT Christlike. We will conform to whatever we focus on most.  Praying that we will choose the greater joy of Jesus and not the fleeting pleasures of the world!

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD

PSALM 33:12

I cannot say that this scripture is true for the nation of America anymore. With the rampant disobedience and liberal mindset, we have swayed from the foundation which has held our nation for generations; Jesus Christ. This post is not to bash to our nation, but to remind of us our countries founding, to ponder how far we've traveled away from that foundation, and pray for the Lord's gracious hand to lead us back to that place.

Hobby Lobby and Mardels posted a WONDERFUL, God-fearing add in the Houston Chronicle for 4th of July. I was so pleased to read it, but I was also very saddened  with the realization of how far our Country has slipped from the Rock that it stood upon. We are no longer a nation that fears the One True God, but a nation that has...

"Been filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree they continue to do such things..."
(Romans 1:28-32 ESV emphasis added)

Here is some excerpts from the Houston Chronicle:
These are quotes from our nations founders/presidents/school boards, please compare these words with what you hear today from our school systems/news channels/presidents mouth....

Can you imagine your professor telling you..."Let every student be plainly instructed and EARNESTLY pressed to consider well the main end of his life and studies is to KNOW GOD AND Jesus Christ which is eternal life"...? I get in trouble in college for speaking about Jesus. I am warned to not even tell my future students about Jesus because I would be "pressuring them and enforcing my religion on them." My eyes well up with tears. We are headed to destruction. Please do not be conformed to the image of this world, to our ever-declining nation, Christians! Stand out. Stand up for Christ as our founders did! May God Bless America.

Autumn's first slumber party with Uncle Kalen and Aunt Linny!

It was SUCH a blessing from God for my sweet neice Autumn to be able to come stay with Kalen and I for a night. My sister and her family live in Austin. Austin is 3 hours away so I go visit as much as I can, but we're not as close as I would hope! Here are some pictures from her stay with us!

First activity: Painting & Popsicles! She painted a rainbow and ate a rainbow popsicle... Cute!

Next Activity: dancing to Uncle Kalen playing the Ukalele!
(Kalen just got back from a work out) :)

Uncle Kalen teaching Autumn how to play CHECKERS on a CHESS board... interesting, but simple & fun! Autumn loved it!

And of course, our Neila wanted to join in the fun....

Happy Girl!

Last day paintings! Autumn painted this- it's me and her! What a gift, thank you Lord for giving me time           with Autumn!!!

Can't wait for Emily & Owen to grow up so they can come stay with us too!! :o)

I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live;
(Ecclesiastes 3:12 ESV)

a little late but... Father's Day!

I wanted to post some sweet pictures from Fathers day 2012!

Here is Kalen and I as well as Michael and Brittany celebrating Father's Day with Pops- Kalen's dad!

Celebrating Father's day at RiversEnd Community Church with my father in the faith- Greg Powell. He's taught me so much about my Heavenly Father's love.

And of course... Celebrating Father's day with my biological father....Daddy-o! :o)
It was a sweet weekend... I am so grateful beyond words for father figures in my life. I know there are so many young women out there without a father figure... to all you young women, let me reassure you- God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, is a Father to the Fatherless!!!!
He binds up the brokenhearted and heals their wounds.... He is the BEST Father figure I have!!
Let the Love of our Heavenly Father fill you today with hope & reassurance! Seek Him & You will find Him!
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
(Psalm 68:5 ESV)

He (God) executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.
(Deuteronomy 10:18 ESV)
